Job Description
- DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Director of EOPS/CARE/NEXTUP, the NextUp Project Supervisor will, from an equity-centric approach, create a network of support to promote enrollment, persistence, and success of current and former foster youth. In addition to program development and course support, the NextUp Project Supervisor will oversee daily operations of the NextUp program and facilitate student involvement.
- REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

- Ensures equitable access to programming that supports and encourages access, success, and completion of educational goals for current/former foster youth. (E)
- Manages, plans, directs, and organizes projects for current and former foster students and the NextUp program. (E)
- Coordinates communications with campus and outside agencies regarding the NextUp program and resources for current and former foster youth. (E)
- Maintains a variety of records including those of a sensitive and confidential nature. (E)
- Establishes and maintains connections between current/former foster youth, employees, community members, outside agencies, and educational partners.
- Reviews early alerts and NextUp student files regularly to ensure eligibility is maintained within program-defined requirements. (E)
- Creates a positive, equity minded working environment in the department and works cooperatively with other campus personnel to promote the NextUp program throughout the campus.
- Maintains current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements, and restrictions. (E)
- Advocates to fill the needs of NextUp participants on-and off-campus, in organizations, on committees, and at meetings.
- Coordinates campus activities for NextUp students with staff, departments, and outside agencies.
- Works in collaboration with the Director of EOPS/CARE/NextUp on operational, administrative, personnel, and budgetary matters.
- Adheres to budget guidelines and analyzes funding allocations for cost effectiveness and alignment with program services. (E)
- Works directly with the Director of EOPS/CARE/NextUp to prepare, submit, and manage the annual NextUp program budget. (E)
- Performs a wide range of administrative duties to ensure student and program reports, records, and other materials are complete and accurately maintained according to relevant policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
- Works directly with the Director of EOPS/CARE/NextUp, and faculty/counselors to plan equity-based program additions, modifications, and deletions; provide equitably for resource needs, provide program analysis, and participate in strategic and long-range planning for the district.
- Utilizing a continuous quality improvement model, perform assessment of outcomes to ensure student learning in NextUp programs. (E)
- Removes barriers to access support services for NextUp student participants. (E)
- Advocates for current/former foster youth students with specific staff, faculty, or departments to ensure academic success and continued enrollment.
- Provides leadership, creates an equitable working culture, provides guidance and supervision to student workers and other personnel working within the NextUp program.
- Participates in the Program Review process. (E)
- Monitors compliance with state regulations and district regulations. (E)
- Available for day, evening, or weekend assignments. (E)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This is a categorically funded position; continued employment is contingent upon continued receipt of funding.- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: Two years of college level work in the program area or related coursework (equivalent to an Associates Degree) and three (3) years of community college experience working with educational programs, community organizations, government programs, or private industry in which the applicant dealt predominantly with current/former foster youth and ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages.
Preferred Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree in a related program area and two (2) years of experience in a related field or with current/former foster youth OR an Associate’s degree in related program area and three (3) years of experience working with current/former foster youth. Related experience in an educational setting is preferred.

Ability to:
- Plan, organize, develop, and evaluate the NextUp program.
- Develop and coordinate a variety of equity-based programs and activities to identify, recruit and retain NextUp students at a community college.
- Read, interpret, adhere, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate effectively and with cultural competence both orally and in writing.
- Develop and maintain the NextUp budget.
- Plan, organize work, and meet schedules and deadlines.
- Work equitably and effectively with current/former foster students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds in order to promote equal access to all divisional programs.
- Prepare and deliver oral presentations.
- Make appropriate referrals to District or community services.
- Use strong oral and written communication skills.
- Select, train, supervise, delegate, and evaluate NextUp staff.
- Maintain records and prepare reports.
- Work evenings and weekends upon request.
WORK DIRECTION, LEAD AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides work direction to classified employees, student workers, hourly workers, and others as required.

- Ability to operate office equipment.
- Tasks require extended periods sitting and at a keyboard/operating traditional office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Typical office environment; potentially on multiple sites.
- The employee may be required to travel to locations other than the assigned work site and may be required to work evenings and weekends.
